FUTURE TREE vs 1.0

The project hinges on the magical idea of “Future Trees”. The concept of Future Trees was imagined to illustrate the future of planet earth and the trees that inhabit its surface. The idea goes that as we evolve, we will also invent new species of trees. Mechanical and biological. The concept is that in the future our planet will be populated with multifunctional trees. Trees will be genetically altered or engineered for different functions. The tree we plan to build will be the first future tree on planet earth. This is a collaborative project between a scientist, a welder (edit:we never found a welder for this version we did find a mathematician who lead the electrical component of the project), an engineer, and an urban planner. The spaces between the branches will be lit with mineral lanterns. The lanterns use polarized light interacting with thin minerals. This produces an array of beautiful colors. The mineral tree…Micas ironities, will be approximately 8ft in height and made with mica minerals. The lanterns, the “fruit” of this tree are made from recycled welding wire spool material and made into mineral chandeliers. The trees specific function is to bridge the gap between the planets experts. The intent lies within the empty spaces between each limb, emphasized to push the boundaries of professional limitations, to reach across backgrounds in a concentrated effort with the goal of engaging in creative play with out specialized expertise. This Future Tree grew up into a tree but started as a seed.
